Transit Watch

TransitWatch

The City of Cripple Creek/Victor is participating in a national program sponsored by the Federal Transit Administration called “Transit Watch”. Similar in concept to the Neighborhood Watch program, Transit Watch encourages the active participation of transit passengers and employees in working together to maintain a safe transit environment.

Transit Watch asks you to be the “eyes and ears” of the local transit system.

Transit Watch – Let’s count on each other for a safe ride

What can you do to help?

  • Be observant, alert, watchful and aware.
  • If something doesn’t look quite right, report it to the authorities.
  • Take the initiative and become the community’s transit eyes and ears.
  • We can all count on a safe ride if we look out for each other.

If passengers observe something suspicious, they should immediately notify their transit operator, another transit employee, or local law enforcement.

To report suspicious activity in an immediate emergency, call 911. Otherwise call the Transportation Office at 719-689-3753.

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING ON A SHUTTLE:

  • Note the time and location.
  • Note the shuttle number.
  • Note the direction of travel (North, South, East or West).
  • Notify the transit operator when safe.
  • Be prepared to give a description of the item or person to the transit operator and to local law enforcement officials.

Transit Watch was developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in partnership with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Transit riders can do their part in keeping Cripple Creek/Victor shuttle stops and vehicles safe by being aware of their surroundings, then if you do “See Something” — “Say Something”.
